Connect CertWatch to Slack to receive certificate notifications directly in your workspace channels.

Setting Up Slack

Go to Channels

Navigate to Channels in the sidebar.

Add Slack Channel

Click Add Channel and select Slack.

Connect to Slack

Click Connect to Slack. You’ll be redirected to Slack to authorize CertWatch.

Authorize

Review the permissions and click Allow to authorize the integration.

Select Channel

Choose which Slack channel should receive certificate alerts.

Save

Click Add Channel to complete setup.

Permissions Required

CertWatch requests minimal permissions:
PermissionPurpose
chat:writePost messages to selected channel
channels:readList available channels for selection
CertWatch cannot read your messages or access any channel content. We can only post notifications.

Slack Message Format

CertWatch messages are formatted for easy reading:
  • Color-coded status (green, yellow, red)
  • Certificate domain as title
  • Expiration details in the body
  • Action button to view in CertWatch

Managing Slack Channels

Change Target Channel

  1. Go to Channels
  2. Find your Slack integration
  3. Click Edit
  4. Select a different Slack channel
  5. Save changes

Test Integration

  1. Go to Channels
  2. Find your Slack integration
  3. Click Send Test
  4. Check your Slack channel for the test message

Disconnect Slack

  1. Go to Channels
  2. Find your Slack integration
  3. Click Delete
  4. Confirm removal

Multiple Slack Channels

You can add multiple Slack channels:
  • Different channels for different certificate groups
  • Separate channels for urgent vs. early warnings
  • Team-specific notification routing

Troubleshooting

Connection Failed

  • Ensure you’re an admin or have permission to install apps
  • Check that your Slack workspace allows third-party integrations
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting

Messages Not Appearing

  • Verify the channel is public or CertWatch was added to private channel
  • Check that the integration is enabled in CertWatch
  • Test the connection using the “Send Test” button

Wrong Channel

  • Edit the Slack channel in CertWatch settings
  • You can change the target channel without reconnecting
